Acolytes assist in the services in many ways: by carrying the crosses, torches, banners and Gospel Book, and by serving the Altar at the Eucharist. We also have specialized acolytes who serve as thurifer, and fly kites on high holy occasions. All youth and adults, 10 years old or 4th grade and up, are invited to serve as acolytes. In 2010, 8 of Good Samaritan's acolytes traveled to Washington, D.C. to the National Cathedral's National Acolyte Festival.
