Sermon Series - Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

What does it mean to be a follower of Christ in 2017?  The first thing Jesus asked anyone to do was to follow him.  Of course, for the first disciples that meant leaving jobs and family to literally go on the road with Jesus.  Those first disciples quickly learned that following Jesus had less to do with geography and more to do with how one lives their life.  Two thousand years later, this still seems to be what Jesus is really after.  How do we follow Jesus in our day and time?  Over the next few weeks we’ll explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus in 2017.  We’ll also work at applying that right here in the parish, looking at all the ways we are forming children, youth, and adults in their “followship” of Christ.  Some of the topics we’ll consider include the meaning of baptism, how does a disciple measure success, how can a disciple change the world, authenticity, maturity, and transformation of the self.  Join us every Sunday, and if you miss a Sunday check out the audio of the sermon online at our website.
