Outreach Opportunities

The goal of the Outreach Committee is to advance the work of God’s Kingdom by sharing the resources of Good Samaritan Episcopal Church to help those in need.
In order to achieve this we will pursue the following activities:
  • Provide financial and volunteer support to create partnerships with a wide variety of community outreach;
  • Assist the needy worldwide by utilizing the resources of the Episcopal Church, where appropriate;
  • Inform, inspire and involve everyone at Good Samaritan Church regarding the activities of the Outreach Committee;
  • Serve to coordinate, but not control, the outreach activities of other Good Samaritan groups so that collectively we will maximize our contribution and make a difference in the lives of others;
  • Demonstrate and strengthen our Christian faith and enrich the spiritual life of Good Samaritan through these efforts.
Steve Angelo is the chair of this team.

Mission Outreach

Good Samaritan is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers both locally and internationally. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers.

Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank

We continually collect food and clothing in support of the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank. Collection bins are at the top of the stairs under the table. We also periodically do special collections for example: School Supplies in August and a Sock Drive on Palm Sunday.

Habitat for Humanity

An interfaith service to bless the Sammamish Habitat Build Site will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2pm. All are welcome to attend, and Good Samaritan will take a lead role in planning the service. If you’d like to participate in some way, please contact Fr. Steve.

The Good Samaritan build day will probably occur sometime in late March or April. Contact Carol Stamper  for information about the build.

Giving Tree

The youth will again take the lead in sponsoring a giving tree for the Christmas holiday.

Pet food collection for the holidays

Many homeless people have pets. We will be exploring collecting pet foods to donate for those in need. Possible through HopeLink and coordinated by Rick Gill.

One of the earliest outreach ministries of Good Samaritan is adopting to clean 244th Ave NE.  We gather together annually to keep our neighborhood in good repair.

Camp Unity

We collect clothing and household items for the homeless staying at this tent city in the collection bin at the top of the stairs in the narthex. (See the list attached to the bin)

Issaquah Meals

On the second Saturday of each month we join together and provide dinner for those in need.  Help us cook in the Good Samaritan kitchen at 2:00pm, or help us serve the meal at 5:00pm at the Issaquah Community Hall in the Fire & Rescue Station 71 building.

Tent City 4

This group has been a moving target and we have not been able to follow through with coordinating a meal for them yet. Stay tuned.
